2018 Barrel Aged Sauvignon Blanc
2018 Barrel Aged Sauvignon Blanc
Aged 17 months in French Oak, this full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc is truly one-of-a-kind. Since our inaugural 2016 vintage that wine critics hailed as one of the best SB's of the year, winemaker Jesse Katz has continued to floor fans and critics alike.
We kept this wine in barrel (50% new French Oak) for a full 17 months with weekly topping and stirring early on and later in its life monthly. The length it spent in barrel highlights the richness and the complexity of the fruit with the oak profile always playing a back role due to our unique barrels sent over from Bordeaux.
A stunning array of aromatics that are new and fresh but also have a resemblance to the great Bordeaux Blancs of the world. Orange blossom, melon, caramelized pear, and citrus zest all battle for the leading roll in the bouquet of this unique Sauvignon Blanc.
"Less aromatic, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Dry Stack Vineyard offers more savory and mineral-laced notes of buttered lemons, orange blossom, spice, and crushed stone. Medium-bodied, with a touch of background oak and a Bordeaux Blanc-like vibe, it’s a rocking Sauvignon Blanc." "Amazingly rich and deep, yet vibrant on the palate. There is a ton of tension as the layers and depth of the wine are pulled together by a beaming natural acidy that flawlessly glides across the palate. Enjoy now through 2030.' ~ Jesse Katz
